Pumpkin CBD Dark Chocolate Chip Bread

We found this fantastic Healthy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread recipe from Well Plated by Erin and added our own CBD twist to make it extra special. You might enjoy this lovely Fall bread if you’re obsessed with everything pumpkin like us!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cups whole wheat pastry flour or white whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats, and a bit more for the topping
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted and cooled coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1¼ cups unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup Tasty Cocoas CBD Chocolates in dark chocolate, chopped up

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×5-inch pan and set aside. Next, whisk together the flour, the oats, baking powder and soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.

In a separate bowl, beat your eggs and add your brown sugar and oil until everything is mixed well.. Add in the milk and pumpkin puree, followed by the dry ingredients. Remember not to overmix and stir everything until just evenly combined. Fold in your chopped chocolate last.Pour your batter into your pan and sprinkle the top with a bit of rolled oats. Place the loaf into the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Once done, let the bread cool for 10 minutes before serving.

CBD Pie Cups

When the Fall season comes around, warm and delicious pies come to mind, so what better way to celebrate than with mini bite-sized pie cups? We found this easy Apple Pie Cookie Cups recipe from Real Housemoms and added our own “flavor” to it. You can also sub the apples for any other pie filling fruits such as lemon, cherry, blueberry, or even strawberry!

Ingredients:

Pie Cups

Pie Filling

  • 5 large apples or about 4-5 cups of your choice of fruit, chopped))
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (omit if not using apples)
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (omit if not using apples)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup of water

Instructions:

Pie Cups

First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees F and grease two muffin trays. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugars together until they’re fluffy,, then add in your eggs and vanilla flavored CBD oil drops.

Once the wet ingredients are combined, set the mixer on low and add in your flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Mix in the oats last.

Spoon about 3 tbsp of batter into the bottom of each muffin cup. Form the dough into a bowl shape by pressing it down into the bottom and up along the sides. If the dough is a bit too wet and sticky to create the bowl, put it in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm up.

Bake the cups for 15 to 18 minutes or until they’re golden at the edges. Let cool for 20 minutes before you try to take them out of the muffin tins and filling.

Pie Filling

For the filling, toss your fruit, sugars, spices (if using), and cornstarch together. Add the mixture to a saucepan or skillet over medium heat along with your melted butter. Gently stir your fruits, add in the water and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.

The filling is ready once the fruits soften and the mixture caramelizes.. Spoon the fruit pie filling into each cup and serve warm or at room temperature.

Fall CBD Salad

If you’re looking for something a bit more savory, this one’s for you. Its bright colors and fresh taste will leave you wanting more! With our CBD addition in place, we’ve turned Cooking Light’s Autumn Salad recipe into an instant lunch must-have.

Ingredients:

  • 1 butternut squash, peeled and cut into ½-in. cubes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt, divided
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup dried green lentils
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ tsp Made by Hemp: Hemp Extract Tincture in Mojito Lime Flavor
  • 2 cups arugula
  • 1 tbsp crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp Tahini Dressing

Instructions:

First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Place your chopped squash, oil, ¼ tsp salt, and pepper into a bowl and toss together. Spread the mixture in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 28 to 30 minutes, tossing once halfway through.

While the squash is baking, you can cook your lentils. Place lentils in a saucepan and cover it with water, up to 3 inches above the lentils. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer for the next 20 minutes. Drain your lentils and stir in the remaining ¼ tsp of salt, cumin, red wine vinegar, and Mojito Lime hemp tincture.To plate, arrange the arugula on your serving dish and top with 1 cup of the butternut squash, ½ cup of the cooked lentils, and the cheese Drizzle the Tahini dressing over everything and voila! There you have it, a fun way to serve up your next lunch!

Easy CBD Recipes to Welcome A Sunny Season

Even if you’re not the most experienced chef, these recipes are simple and easy to whip up in no time. Here are 3 of our favorites:

CBD Summer Mixed Berry Avo-Toast

Nothing says summer like an avocado toast recipe. We’ve taken the delicious strawberry basil avocado toast from Karalydon.com and switched it up for this fun CBD treat. This could be a great start to your day as your breakfast or something to serve to friends as an afternoon tea treat. You’ll enjoy every last bite!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole-wheat or multigrain toast
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • ¼ cup of mixed berries (blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry – all sliced)
  • Drizzle of honey
  • 1 oz. goat cheese
  • 1 tsp of peppercorn
  • A couple of drops of Made by Hemp: Hemp Extract Tincture in Mojito Lime

Begin by toasting the two slices of bread, then top the bread with your avocado slices. Top with mixed berries of your choice, followed by the goat cheese. Drizzle the honey and the hemp extract tincture over the top, and sprinkle a bit of crushed peppercorn to taste.

Summer CBD Blackberry & Rosemary Crisp

Next up, we have a dessert that can be eaten as a snack any time of the day—you won’t need to wait until after your meal to enjoy it! This berry crisp recipe is taken from Mybakingaddiction.com and you’ll love the exchange of the main ingredients with the blackberry and rosemary.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of blackberries (sliced)
  • 1 sprig of sliced rosemary
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • A couple of drops of Tasty Hemp Oil: Flavored CBD Oil in Vanilla
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup quick oats
  • 1/3 cup cold butter

Preheat your oven to 375F degrees, and butter an 8-inch square baking dish. Combine your blackberries, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Add the rosemary to the mix before sprinkling flour over your blackberries. Add your berry mixture to your prepared pan and set aside to prepare your crisp topping.

In a medium bowl, combine cinnamon, brown sugar, and flour. Fork in your butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly. Lastly, add in your oats before topping the berries with the crisp mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until your blackberry filling bubbles and the crisp turns golden brown. Serve warm with some ice-cream with a couple of drops of the Vanilla CBD oil drops, and voila!

CBD Raspberry Loaf

Last, but not least, enjoy this CBD Raspberry loaf from Wellplated.com. We took their delicious blueberry bread and changed it up by adding some CBD goodness for you to enjoy. Served warm, this healthy berry bread is a great brunch or afternoon tea item during the summer months.

Ingredients

  • 1¾ cup flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup and 1 tbsp of Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup butter, melted and cooled
  • 1½ pure vanilla extract
  • Zest of a small lemon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp raw turbinado sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • A couple of drops of Made by Hemp: Hemp Extract Tincture in French Vanilla

Preheat your oven to 350F and lightly coat an 8×4 inch loaf pan with nonstick spray. In a large bowl, whisk together cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and flour. In another bowl, sprinkle the mixture over your raspberries and mix gently. In another bowl, add your yogurt, honey, melted butter, vanilla, Hemp extract drops, and lemon zest. Mix until smooth, then whisk in the eggs. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir gently before folding in the raspberries.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle the raw sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake for 45-50 minutes, and check the center with a toothpick to see if it comes out clean. Let cool completely before slicing, and enjoy!

3 Different Mother’s Day Brunch Recipes to Wow Your Mom this Mother’s Day

Our moms contribute so much to our lives. Their efforts and the huge role they play in our lives should be celebrated every day, but there’s one day every year that takes special care in showing our moms the gratitude we have for them. That’s why Mother’s Day is always something we look forward to! You get some superb quality time with your mom or a female figure that is significant in your life.

And what better way to celebrate these special women around you than to prepare a scrumptious brunch for them? This Mother’s Day, we’ve got some amazing Mother’s Day brunch recipes to bring to your table. You’ll satisfy the soul with a good meal while sharing some good laughs and memories at the table.

You may be a novice in edible treats and recipes but fear not—the following recipes are easy to follow and delicious for cooks of any skill level. Think of it as a fun way to switch up classic recipes that you’re used to.

Raspberry CBD Chocolate Swirl Rolls

Inspired by the Raspberry Swirl Roll from GoodHousekeeping.com, these sweet and melt-in-your-mouth tarts are so good with a good cup of tea—and they are a great addition to your easy Mother’s Day brunch.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 ¼ oz. package of dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cup flour
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for the pan
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • CBD Chocolate Bar (melted)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream for brushing
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup confection’s sugar sifted
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Frozen raspberries (optional)

In a small saucepan, heat milk and ½ cup water until warm. In a large bowl, whisk yeast, sugar, and 1 cup of flour. Whisk in warm milk, cover, and set aside for 15 minutes until the top layer is foamy. Mix your butter and salt into the mixture before gradually mixing in the rest of your flour. Cover again and set aside for another hour until it doubles in size.

Roll out your risen dough onto a floured surface then spread your melted chocolate evenly on it. Top it off with your frozen raspberries, then roll the dough into a tight log. Cut the roll into 12 x 1 inch thick rolls, then transfer rolls into a greased casserole. Cover and let rise again for another 50 to 60 minutes.

Lastly, heat your oven to 375F, and brush the rolls with heavy cream and bake until golden brown and puffy, 25 to 27 minutes. Let cool on a rack for 10 minutes. Your frosting is made by combining your sour cream, confectioner’s sugar, vanilla, and 1 tsp of lemon juice. Spread over the warm rolls before serving this Mother’s Day brunch recipe.

Spinach and Cream Cheese CBD Breakfast Tarts

Taking a spin at an original recipe from theendlessmeal.com, we substituted their asparagus, goat cheese, and cherry tomato recipe for our own spinach and cream cheese creation. This is one brunch idea that will surely get your guests talking.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • Flour for dusting
  • 1 package of frozen spinach (defrosted, and drained)
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • A couple of drops of your favorite CBD tincture
  • Salt and pepper to season

In a large frying pan, add onion and cook until onions are translucent. Add garlic powder and drained spinach to the mix, then set aside for it to cool slightly. In another bowl, put the onion and spinach inside before adding the package of cream cheese. Salt and pepper to season.

Roll out your puff pastry dough on a well-floured surface to 9 x 11 inches. Place the dough on a parchment-lined baking tray before adding your toppings. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees, then spread your spinach, onion, and cream cheese mixture, leaving 1-inch space at the edges. Bake for 25 minutes or until puff pastry is puffed and golden. Remove tart from the oven and let cool before serving.

Turkey and Brie CBD Croissants

Our last Mother’s Day brunch recipe is our favorite yet. We took the original idea from Kitchensanctuary.com and switched up the ham and cheese to a more refined combination of turkey and brie. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 croissants
  • 8 slices of turkey sandwich meat
  • Brie, sliced
  • Cranberry sauce or raspberry jam
  • A couple of drops of berry-flavored CBD oil drops.
  • ½ tbsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ brown sugar
  • 1 tsp poppy seed

Preheat oven to 375 degrees, then slice croissants in half lengthways. Place a couple of slices of brie, then turkey, then brie again. Mix the jam or cranberry sauce with the brown sugar, dijon mustard, and CBD oil drops. Place the croissants onto a baking tray then spread the jam mixture on top of the croissants. Sprinkle the poppy seed over the croissants, then place croissants into the oven for 6-7 minutes. Serve immediately after you take it out of the oven.

There’s nothing like having a posh looking Chocolate Valentine cake to end the night with this flourless CBD dessert inspired by Delish.com. It takes 10 minutes of prep time and a total of an hour and a half to complete the dessert.

Ingredients

Directions for the cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees while you grease an 8” pan.
  2. Melt your organic dark chocolate bar and butter in the microwave for one minute at a time until melted.
  3. Stir the mixture until chocolate and butter have mixed thoroughly.
  4. Add sugar and espresso into the chocolate mixture, then whisk until everything’s combined.
  5. Add in your eggs until the mixture is smooth. And, lastly, add your cocoa powder to everything.
  6. Pour your batter into your pan and bake for about 35 minutes, then let the cake rest for 15 minutes.

Directions for the ganache

  1. Heat your heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers.
  2. Pour the hot cream into the Tasty Cocoas CBD chocolates to combine.
  3. Pour the ganache over the cake, and place it into the refrigerator for 10 minutes until set.
  4. Add some raspberry or strawberries to the top for garnish.

There you have it! The great thing about this recipe is that you can substitute a few of the ingredients to cater to your personal taste. It’s flourless so it can be served to those who have special dietary preferences. It’s also suitable for those who are allergic to wheat but would like to enjoy some dessert after a romantic Valentine’s meal. This Valentine cake is so simple; it’s the one thing you won’t have to stress about this Valentine’s day!

CBD Tiramisu Bites

If your lover doesn’t have a thing for chocolate, make sure you check out this cute little Valentine dessert from Myrecipes.com for an out-of-this-world fruity dessert made with ladyfingers and cream.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp of any kind of berry preserves (blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry)
  • 1 tbsp of orange liqueur or 1 tbsp of Elixinol Hemp Extract – CBD tincture in Citrus Twist flavor
  • 1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ladyfingers, halved crosswise
  • 8 fresh berry to match the preserve you used (blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry)

Directions

  1. Place your fruit preserve into a small microwave-safe bowl on high for 20 seconds, then stir in your orange liqueur.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat your cream cheese and sugar at medium speed until it’s creamy. It will take approximately one minute with an electric mixer.
  3. Stir in your orange liqueur or your Elixinol Hemp Extract – CBD tincture in Citrus Twist flavor.
  4. Take another bowl for your heavy cream and beat it with your electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  5. Fold this mixture into your cream cheese for an airy and fluffy texture between the ladyfingers.
  6. Put the mixture into a piping bag or a zip-top plastic bag. If you use a zip-top plastic bag, do not seal it and snip one of the bottom corners of the bag to make a hole to squeeze the mixture out.

Assembly

  1. Start by layering one ladyfinger half onto the bottom of a small glass (approximately 1½ oz).
  2. Drizzle about ½ tsp of your berry preserve onto the ladyfinger, then pipe a small amount of the cream cheese mixture evenly into the glass.
  3. Repeat the procedure until you reach the top, then garnish the top layer with a berry.
  4. Cover the glass and chill for 2 hours before serving.

This fun Valentine dessert is very light and refreshing after a delicious Valentine’s meal—and you won’t have to break the bank to make it. The ingredients are easy to find, and preparation time is only 30 minutes. You can also alternate different types of berries with other fruits, such as peaches and apricots.

We found this sweet recipe by Tatanisha from awortheyread.com and it gave us all the holiday feels. The original creator made this drink because of their love for everything peppermint. With a swap for a few ingredients, this can quickly become a holiday favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 oz. of Cranberry Ginger Ale (or Ginger Ale mixed with Cranberry juice)
  • A couple of drops of Tasty Hemp Oil: Spearmint Flavored CBD oil drops (available in 300 mg or 1000 mg of CBD per 1 oz.)
  • 1 oz. of simple syrup or Mint simple syrup (Coffee syrup dispensers)
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • Candy Cane for stir stick/garnish
  • A sprig of mint and fresh pine

Modification Note: You can use simple syrup because the minty flavor comes from the spearmint flavored CBD oil, but for extra mintiness, you can use peppermint or Mint simple syrup. Similarly, to retain the Candy Cane aspect of the Candy Cane julep, it’s best to use a red-colored drink like Cranberry Ginger Ale, but the CBD infused drink recipe is very versatile, and you can switch it up however you’d like.

  1. Add the syrup and CBD oil to the bottom of a glass.
  2. Add your crushed ice.
  3. Fill to the rim with the Ginger Ale.
  4. Add your candy cane stir stick to mix the syrup and CBD oils around.
  5. Garnish with a sprig of mint and fresh pine for the holiday upgrade.

Cranberry-Citrus Sparkler

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of apple cider

Modification Note: If you don’t have apple cider, you can match the heavier texture of the cider with a bit of applesauce with apple juice. And if you like extra spiciness, it’s better to grate a bit of ginger than adding a few thin slices. The richness of the vanilla flavored CBD oil will enhance the cinnamon taste, but if you prefer to add the natural flavored CBD oil instead, that works too.

CBD tinctures are most commonly made from the industrial hemp plant, a strain of cannabis that has been bred to contain less than 0.3% THC. However, CBD tinctures can also be made from low-THC strains of the marijuana plant.

For many who suffer from chronic pain, tinctures are a preferred method of CBD ingestion because of the ease of use, long shelf life and speed of delivery. CBD tinctures are administered sublingually, by taking a small dose of the extract under the tongue. The CBD is absorbed promptly by the mucous membrane in the mouth into the bloodstream, delivering relief within 15 minutes.

Homemade versus commercial

What is a commercial CBD tincture?

A commercial CBD tincture is an herbal cannabis preparation that is manufactured by a commercial producer for public sale. Commercial CBD tinctures commonly contain CBD oil extracted from the hemp or marijuana plant via commercial extraction methods and must comply with strict standards for quality, efficacy, purity, and labeling.

What is a homemade CBD tincture?

A homemade CBD tincture is a CBD-infused herbal preparation that you can make yourself at home by dissolving plant material—such as the flower, leaves and stem of the hemp plant—into a liquid solvent, such as high-proof alcohol, or a non-alcoholic carrier liquid, such as coconut oil, olive oil or vegetable glycerine.

What are the differences between commercial and homemade?

When it comes to choosing between homemade versus commercial CBD oil tinctures, it is essential to note which route works better for your lifestyle. Commercial products offer convenience and purity, while DIY tinctures provide full control over potency and ingredients.

Purity

The significant difference between homemade versus commercial is purity. A commercial CBD oil tincture is more thoroughly filtered than a homemade concoction. Commercial producers are required to meet strict standards for purity and utilize sophisticated filtration processes to thoroughly remove solvent and contaminants from the cannabis extract.

Ingredients

With a homemade CBD tincture, you have the freedom to select the type of cannabis you wish to extract your CBD from—if you’d prefer to avoid THC, you can use industrial hemp. If you’re in a legal state and aren’t averse to the effects of THC, then you can make your extract from a high-CBD strain of marijuana.

Potency

While it’s easy and convenient to purchase a CBD tincture online or from a store, making your own CBD tincture at home allows you to have full control over the concentration of CBD. By tweaking the amount of plant matter, or experimenting with different strains of cannabis, you can create your own signature CBD tincture with a potency that’s perfect for you.

Methods of making CBD tinctures

Making your own CBD tinctures at home is pretty easy, but before you get started, you’ll need to decide on the method that’s right for you.

The first thing to consider when deciding on your preferred method is the solvent.

Solvents

Alcohol

Traditionally, herbal tinctures are made with alcohol. Using alcohol as the solvent produces a potent CBD extract that is very quickly absorbed by the body when taken sublingually (under the tongue).

While the amount of alcohol you will consume when taking an alcohol-based CBD tincture is minimal, it still needs to be metabolized by the body. If you have a sensitivity to alcohol, or you dislike the flavor or mouthfeel of alcohol, you should consider non-alcoholic methods for making CBD tincture.

Vegetable oil

If you’d prefer to use a non-alcoholic base for your tincture, or find high-grade alcohol hard to source, then vegetable oil method is a popular alternative. This method is simple and accessible, as it uses ingredients that you’re likely to already have in your pantry, such as coconut, olive or sunflower oil.

CBD tinctures made from vegetable oil are ideal to add to food and drink. If you’re interested in making your own CBD edibles, then the vegetable oil method may be the best match for you.

Glycerine

Vegetable glycerin is a clear liquid commonly derived from soy, palm and coconuts. Its lipid structure makes it an ideal solvent to replace alcohol because the cannabinoids attach to the lipids during extraction.

Keep in mind that CBD tinctures made with vegetable glycerin—also known as glycerites (2)— tend to be lower in potency than alcohol-based CBD tinctures, but they’re a great alternative for people who prefer to avoid alcohol.

Steeping

Steeping describes the process of dissolving the plant extract into the solvent. That may sound complicated, but steeping is a fairly simple and familiar process. If you’ve ever made a cup of tea, you’ll understand that the tea leaves need to steep in water for a period of time for the flavors and tannins of the tea to infuse into the water.

There are two methods of steeping. The first is the traditional method of maceration. The second is the more modern method of percolation.

The decision between maceration and percolation depends on one important factor: time.

Traditional maceration – the slow and simple method

Maceration is the most traditional method of making a tincture and is ideal for beginners. Simply add plant material and solvent to an airtight jar, and leave to steep in a cool, dark place.

You’ll require patience with this method, as it takes at least six weeks for the CBD and phytonutrients of the cannabis plant to dissolve into your chosen solvent.

Percolation – the quick but complex method

If you’d prefer to speed up the extraction process, you can use the percolation method. As with maceration, plant matter and solvent are added to an air-tight jar. But instead of leaving your jar on a shelf to steep for a lengthy period, the jar is instead placed into a water bath and brought to simmer.

While percolation is a bit more complex than maceration, and requires some extra utensils, this method is an ideal way to cut down the steeping time if you need your CBD tincture in a hurry.

Ingredients for making your own

Now that you’ve decided on your preferred solvent and extraction method, it’s time to select your ingredients.

What ingredients do you need to make one?

The first and most important ingredient that you’ll need to make a CBD tincture is cannabis.

Cannabis

Marijuana

If you don’t mind the effects of THC, and you’re located in a state where cannabis is legal, you may choose to make your homemade CBD tincture from marijuana. We recommend a high-CBD, low-THC strain of marijuana, such as Ringo’s Gift, Harlequin, or ACDC. This will limit the effect of the THC, and maximize the effect of CBD, while taking advantage of the ‘entourage effect’, which describes the synergistic relationship between these two cannabinoids.

Solvents

The next ingredient you’ll need is your solvent. As we discussed earlier, the solvent is the liquid component of your tincture, and is what the CBD is extracted into.

You can choose between alcohol, vegetable oil, or glycerin as your solvent.

Alcohol

For alcohol-based tinctures, you’ll need a high-proof alcohol that is 60-70% ethyl alcohol or ethanol. Everclear is a recommended source because of its high alcohol content, as is 151 Rum. You want to make sure that you are using food-safe alcohol that is not denatured.

Vegetable Oil

Vegetable oil is probably the easiest solvent to source, as well as the most cost-effective. A wide range of vegetable oils can be purchased from the grocery store—in fact, you may already have the perfect vegetable oil in your pantry, ready to be made into a CBD tincture.

Not all vegetable oils are made equal when it comes to tinctures. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Liquid Coconut Oil: Cannabinoids rely on fatty acids as a binding agent, and since coconut oil is rich in fatty acids, it’s an ideal oil for your homemade CBD tincture. For tinctures, it is necessary to purchase liquid coconut oil, as coconut oil becomes solid at room temperature.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Olive oil is regarded worldwide as a healthy oil, rich in antioxidants and oleic acid. An added benefit of olive oil is that it is efficient in preserving terpenes from the cannabis plant, providing a whole-plant extract.
  • Sunflower Oil: Sunflower oil is an affordable option, with a milder flavor than coconut and olive oil. Sunflower Oil is well suited to percolation, as it has good thermal stability. Additionally, sunflower oil is high in lecithin, which helps to increase the shelf life of your tincture.
Glycerin

It’s important to note that not all glycerin is appropriate for human consumption. For a glycerin-based CBD tincture, be sure to purchase food-grade vegetable glycerin from a trusted, sustainable source.

How to decarboxylate your cannabis
